Why was Reacher renewed for another season?

The show has been renewed more than once: season 2 in 2022, season 3 in 2023, and season 4 in 2024. So “another season” can mean different things depending on when you heard the news.

## The clearest reason

For season 2, Prime Video said Reacher became one of its five most-watched shows ever in the U.S. and worldwide within three days of its debut. That kind of launch made renewing it an easy call.

## Why it kept going

Prime Video has not shared a detailed ratings or money formula for seasons 3 and 4. But ordering season 4 alongside a Neagley spin-off shows it sees Alan Ritchson’s Reacher and Lee Child’s books as a valuable long-running TV franchise.

## Not because the story had to continue

There’s no public sign that a cliffhanger, a character death, or an unresolved case forced the renewal. Each season adapts a different Reacher novel, so the series has lots of standalone story options.

## One timeline detail

Season 4 was ordered in October 2024, before season 3 premiered in February 2025. So season 3’s ratings could not have been the reason Prime Video originally ordered season 4.
